It is sobering the think that the East German Communist regime had tighter control of education than the NAZIs and that they held onto it for forty five years instead of the nine years that the NAZIs managed. prejudices which the regime imprinted on its young citizens must still be deeply ingrained. We may have trouble with this when the shiny new unified Germany comes under strain, like the current refugee crisis.
Correction, the NAZIs had power for twelve years, not nine, Sill far less than the communist dictatorship which came next. Interestingly, German rearmament for WW2 started before the NAZIs won power.
