Martin Luther King Day
I started writing a piece honoring Dr. King to post here today and then found this editorial in the San Antonio Express News that makes the same points far more effectively.
I know King wasn't perfect by any means, but then none of us are. His ideas and methods remain as sound today as they were when he lived.
There's a good chance he may have been a victim of organized crime, too.

One would have thought that if his murder was simply because of racism, it would have happened about eight years earlier than it did.
Organized crime often relies on hierarchical religious and cultural structures for its control over different communities and ethnic groups.
Nothing challenges this kind of structure more deeply and more quickly than a highly popular, eloquent and persuasive Baptist preacher.
